Want Clay Decor to create a custom project? A
lot of collaboration between the artist and you make
the project a success, and here's how it's done.
**There is a $75 initial non-refundable fee
for all projects NOT going through one of our Tile
Dealers.
*Mastercard and Visa Accepted for all Payments*
What you need to know BEFORE starting a project:
1.
What are the exact dimensions of the space you
want to fill with tile? --Most important is the
area to be customized
by a medallion or framed mural.
2.
What is your timeline? We need a MINIMUM
of 6+1 weeks (6 weeks of construction, 1 week for design
consultation
and sketching) to construct a custom endeavor,
more if there are over 300 tiles needed, or a medallion/mural
over 4x4 feet in area.
3.
Is an Artisan project right for you? --These
tiles are not made by machine, therefore there is no
such thing as absolute
predictability. Are you prepared for variations
in the colors and textures of our glazes? Can your installer
work with variations
in tile size of up to an inch (compensating by cutting
tiles or manipulating grout lines, and waiting
to install
wood or stone trim pieces until tilework is installed)?
If you have any hesitation in answering 'yes'
to any of
these questions, you are better off going with an existing
design or machined product. There are absolutely
no refunds or returns allowed on custom projects.
4.
There are 2 hours of the artist's time included
in the initial fee of $75. Typically the first
round of sketches from the
artist will take up most of the 2 hours, but there may
be time to do a second rendition. The artist/Clay
Decor will
let you know how much time remains if a second rendition is
needed. *This fee will be waived if you go through one
of our retailers.
Getting Started:
1.
Send us a sketch or verbally express your idea.
You can send a picture or sketch to your nearby
tile dealer (and have
help through this process--RECOMMENDED), or you can
send us a sketch directly by
fax or email. Keep in
mind that we can not reproduce anything copyrighted,
but can use any image as an idea to start with.
2.
Send us the dimensions of the space you would
like our work to fill. (If you have a gas stove,
and are seeking a medallion
to go between the stove and hood, start with the area
above the burner, rather than tightly against the counter/stove
surface).
3.
What finish color do you prefer--one from our
existing collection or do you need a custom color? **Custom
colors
add weeks to project time, as it is a trial-and-error
process, limited to 1 trial per 2 weeks.
We'll Respond with an Artist Rendering:
1.
The artist will send you sketches
of designs (usually 2 to choose from), along with a
layout to give you
an idea of what the elements look like within your dimensions,
and an estimate of project costs.
(see example below)
2.
You can choose a sketch or collaborate further
with the artist to achieve a design you are happy with.
Depending
on the demands of the project, the artist may have already
used the 2 hour time allotted. We'll let you
know if additional billing will occur before another
round of sketches is executed.
Finalize the Project:
1.
Clay Decor will send you a Custom Order Agreement,
including final sketches, dimenstions, colors and costs.
2.
Sign and fax the agreement back to us, along with
a 50% deposit for the total (not including $75 fee)
3.
We'll put you into the production schedule and
let you know when you can expect a finished product.
4.
BEFORE the project is shipped, we will call you
for final payment. Final payment includes shipping,
and shipping costs depend on dimenstions, weight,
distance, and time. Upon receipt of payment (you
can pay with credit card online or by check), we'll
immediately send the finished product to you.
THERE ARE NO RETURNS OR REFUNDS FOR ANY CUSTOM
PROJECT, no exceptions.
**As
always, feel free to call or email us with any questions!**
You're on your way to having
couture artwork in your home created just for you!
